Church of St. Paul Mission Statement

Founded in 1869, St. Paul`s Roman Catholic Church is a beacon of hope for people of multiple cultures and backgrounds.  Rooted in Franciscan spirituality, we prayerfully rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us with compassion, integrity and humility as we worship and work together as a people of God.

Strengthened by Eucharist within uplifting liturgies and powerful sacred music, we praise God`s goodness and love that ultimately nourishes our spirit along our journey in life.

With St. Paul as our guiding saint, we are missionaries who promote evangelization through our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  We work as a community to serve God by helping the poor and addressing the needs of the people in New Castle County, Delaware.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

 grant that I may not so much seek
 to be consoled, as to console;

 to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life
.

Oración de San Francisco de Asís

Señ
or, hazme Instrumento de Tu paz.
Donde haya odio, siembre yo amor;
Donde haya injuria, perd
ó
n;
Donde haya duda, Fe;
Donde haya desaliento, esperanza;
Donde haya oscuridad, luz;
Y donde haya tristeza, alegr
ía.

Oh Divino Maestro,
Haz que no busque ser consolado sino consolar;
Que no busque ser comprendido sino comprender;
Que no busque ser amado sino amar;
Porque dando es como recibimos;
Perdonando es como T
ú
nos perdonas;
Y muriendo en Ti es como nacemos a la Vida Eterna.
